2.5/4/6mm² BVR Flexible Electrical Cable Pure Copper Conductor for Home & Building Wiring
The 2.5/4/6mm² BVR flexible electrical cable, a core wiring product in the home and building sectors, has become the preferred solution for residential electricity use and commercial building circuit installation, thanks to the excellent performance of its pure copper conductor and flexible structural design. Its core advantage first lies in the conductor material: it uses high-purity oxygen-free copper with a purity of ≥99.99%. Compared with ordinary electrolytic copper, it not only has better electrical conductivity (the DC resistance of the conductor at 20℃ is ≤13.3Ω/km for 2.5mm², ≤8.21Ω/km for 4mm², and ≤5.38Ω/km for 6mm², far lower than the industry average standard) but also exhibits stronger oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. This effectively prevents issues such as increased line loss and abnormal heating caused by conductor oxidation during long-term use, adapting to the long-term electricity demand of 10-20 years in homes and buildings.
In terms of structural design, the BVR cable adopts a multi-strand fine copper wire stranding process (2.5mm² consists of 19 strands of Φ0.41mm copper wire, 4mm² of 37 strands of Φ0.37mm copper wire, and 6mm² of 49 strands of Φ0.41mm copper wire). Compared with single-strand rigid wires (BV wires), its flexibility is significantly improved, with a minimum bending radius of only 4 times the cable outer diameter (taking the 2.5mm² model as an example, with an outer diameter of approximately 4.2mm, the bending radius only needs 16.8mm). It can easily adapt to narrow or complex wiring spaces such as building suspended ceilings, wall concealed pipes, and behind furniture, reducing the risk of conductor breakage during construction and lowering the difficulty of disassembly during later line maintenance.
From the perspective of application scenarios, the three specifications accurately match different electricity needs: the 2.5mm² model is mainly used for home lighting circuits, ordinary sockets (such as living room wall sockets, bedroom bedside sockets), and power supply for small household appliances (such as televisions and washing machines). Its long-term safe current-carrying capacity can reach 16-25A, meeting daily low-power electricity demand; the 4mm² model is suitable for high-power household appliance circuits (such as air conditioners, electric water heaters, and ovens) and ordinary power circuits in commercial buildings, with a safe current-carrying capacity of 25-32A, capable of coping with the instantaneous starting current of 2-3 horsepower air conditioners and 60L electric water heaters; the 6mm² model is mostly used for building main incoming lines, high-power electrical clusters in villas (such as whole-house water purification systems and floor heating boilers), and power cabinet connections in commercial places, with a safe current-carrying capacity of 32-40A, ensuring stable transmission of large currents and avoiding line overload and heating.
In terms of insulation and safety performance, the cable uses a temperature-resistant PVC insulation layer (long-term temperature resistance of 70℃, short-term temperature resistance of 105℃), certified by the GB/T 5023.3-2008 standard. The insulation resistance is ≥100MΩ·km, and there is no breakdown under 1500V AC voltage for 1 minute, effectively isolating the conductor from external contact and preventing leakage risks. At the same time, the insulation layer has good aging resistance and wear resistance. During long-term use in building wall embedding or suspended ceilings, it can resist changes in environmental temperature and humidity (-15℃ to 70℃) and slight mechanical friction, extending the service life of the line. In addition, the product has also passed the GB/T 18380.1-2008 flame retardant test (ZC grade), which can self-extinguish quickly in case of fire, preventing flame spread and providing double protection for home and building electricity safety.
In terms of construction and practicality, the surface of the BVR cable is printed with clear product identification (model, specification, rated voltage, production batch number, and implementation standard), using wear-resistant ink printing that remains legible after long-term friction, facilitating specification verification during construction and traceability during later maintenance. At the same time, its lightweight design (weight per kilometer is about 22kg for 2.5mm², 35kg for 4mm², and 50kg for 6mm²) reduces the intensity of construction handling. Combined with its flexible structure, it can reduce the resistance during dark pipe threading, improving construction efficiency, especially suitable for centralized wiring operations in high-rise buildings or large-area commercial spaces.
